Luxa Users — Installation & License Setup Guide
This guide walks through installing Luxa Users, Luxa Users Pro, and the official add-ons, and activating each license. For day-to-day usage once everything’s installed, see the User Guide.
Requirements
- WordPress 6.2 or newer
- PHP 7.4 or newer
- To install Pro or any add-on, the free Luxa Users plugin must already be installed and active — everything else is built on top of it.
Step 1 — Install Luxa Users (free)
Luxa Users is free and available on WordPress.org.
- In your site’s admin, go to Plugins → Add New.
- Search for “Luxa Users”.
- Click Install Now, then Activate.
That’s it — no account or license needed for the free plugin. You can start building your Login/Register/Profile pages right away (see the User Guide, section 1).
Step 2 — Install Luxa Users Pro
Luxa Users Pro is a premium companion plugin, purchased separately from luxapress.com. It is not on WordPress.org, and it never replaces the free plugin — both stay active side by side.
- After purchasing, download the
luxa-users-pro.zipfile from your luxapress.com account. - In your site’s admin, go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin.
- Choose the ZIP file and click Install Now.
- Click Activate Plugin.
At this point Pro is installed but not yet licensed — you’ll see a plain admin layout and an “Unlicensed” notice until you complete the next step.
Activating your Pro license
- Go to Luxa Users → Settings → License.
- Paste the license key from your luxapress.com account (Orders → your Luxa Users Pro order) into the License Key field.
- Click Activate License.
Once activated, the admin area switches to Pro’s full layout, and the Modules and Addons screens become available.
Moving your license to a different site
Each license activates on a limited number of domains at a time (check your order for the exact limit). To free up a slot:
- Go to Luxa Users → Settings → License.
- Click Deactivate on this domain.
The key is now available to activate on a new site.
Step 3 — Install an add-on
Add-ons (Social Login, Custom Fields Builder) are also purchased separately from luxapress.com, and each needs the free Luxa Users plugin and an active Luxa Users Pro license to work.
You can install an add-on either of two ways:
Option A — From inside wp-admin (recommended)
- Go to Luxa Users → Addons. Every available add-on is listed here, whether or not you’ve bought it yet.
- On the add-on you purchased, click Unlock.
- Paste the license key from your luxapress.com order and click Verify.
- Once verified, the card’s button changes to Install Now — click it.
- Once installed, click Activate.
Your license is remembered automatically — you won’t need to enter the key again after installing.
Option B — Upload the ZIP manually
- Download the add-on’s ZIP from your luxapress.com account.
- Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the ZIP, Install Now, then Activate.
- Go to Luxa Users → Settings → License. Your add-on now has its own sub-tab there.
- Paste the license key and click Activate License.
Confirming it’s licensed
Go to Luxa Users → Settings → License — you’ll see a sub-tab for each installed add-on alongside Pro’s own. A red “Unlicensed” marker on a sub-tab means that add-on’s key still needs to be entered or has expired; the add-on’s actual features (Social Login’s provider buttons, Custom Fields’ Field Builder) stay off until it’s resolved.
Troubleshooting
“Unknown add-on” when clicking Unlock. This means our catalog and your license server are momentarily out of sync — it’s on our side to fix, not something you need to change. Contact support with the add-on name and we’ll sort it out.
Add-on features aren’t showing up even though I see “Licensed.” Make sure you clicked Activate on the add-on itself under Plugins, not just licensed it — licensing and activating are two separate steps.
I deactivated my Pro license but the add-on I bought separately still shows as licensed. That’s expected short-term, but the add-on’s own features stop working the moment Pro isn’t licensed, even if the add-on’s own key is still valid — every add-on requires an actively licensed Pro underneath it.
I reinstalled an add-on after deleting it — do I need to re-enter my key? No. Deleting an add-on’s files doesn’t touch your license — reinstalling and activating it picks the same license back up automatically.
Where do I find my license key again? Log into your account at luxapress.com, go to Orders, and open the relevant order — your key is listed there for Pro and for each add-on you bought separately.
