General

Do I need Luxa Kanvia Pro to use Luxa Kanvia at all? No. The free plugin is a complete, standalone board/task tool on its own. Pro adds extra views and workflow features on top of it — you only need Pro if you want those.

What’s the difference between a “Module” and an “Add-on”? A Module is one of the 9 features bundled inside Luxa Kanvia Pro itself (Time Tracking, Calendar, Gantt, etc.) — you turn it on/off on the Modules screen, no extra download or license needed once Pro is licensed. An Add-on (like Cloud Storage) is a separate plugin you install and license independently, on top of a licensed Pro — see the Installation & License Setup Guide.

Can I use Luxa Kanvia Pro without the free plugin? No — Pro is an extension, not a standalone product. It requires the free Luxa Kanvia plugin to be installed and active first.

Licensing

How many sites can I use one license on? Depends on your plan — check Settings → License on any site where you’ve activated it; it shows how many of your plan’s activations are currently in use (e.g. “2 of 5”).

I’m getting “This key has reached its activation limit” — what do I do? Go to Settings → License; the page lists every site currently using that key with its own Deactivate button. Free up a slot there, then activate on the new site. You don’t need to contact support for this.

I moved my site to a new domain (staging → production, or a new URL) — do I need a new key? No, same key. Deactivate it on the old domain (or via the activation-limit list above) and activate it on the new one.

What happens to my Pro features if my license expires? The features stop working (modules, Add-ons screen actions, etc. become unavailable) but nothing is deleted — your boards, tasks, and any data already created keep working through the free plugin underneath. Renew your license and everything Pro-related picks back up immediately.

Does deactivating or letting Pro’s license expire affect the free plugin? No — the free plugin is fully independent and keeps working regardless of Pro’s license state.

Modules

Why is Board Permissions off by default, unlike every other module? Turning it on with no members explicitly assigned to a board can lock everyone except administrators out of that board — it needs a moment of setup before it’s safe to enable, unlike the other modules which are useful the instant you switch them on. Read the module’s own in-page notice on the Modules screen before enabling it.

Does Gantt support task dependencies (task B can’t start until task A finishes)? Not in the current version — today’s Gantt is timeline-bar mechanics only (drag to move/resize a task’s start and due dates). Dependency arrows are a larger feature planned for later.

AI Assistant asks for my own OpenAI API key — why don’t you just provide one? So your usage, billing, and rate limits are entirely your own with OpenAI directly — Luxa Kanvia never sees or proxies your task content through a Luxa-hosted key. Get a key at platform.openai.com and paste it into the AI Assistant module’s settings.

Does Notifications alert me about upcoming due dates? Not currently — it only fires on 2 events: being assigned to a task, and someone else commenting on a task you’re assigned to. A due-date reminder needs a recurring scan across every task rather than reacting to something that just happened, so it’s a separate, larger feature for a future release.

Can a Client Portal share link let a client edit the board? No — it’s read-only by design, and doesn’t require the client to have a WordPress account.

Cloud Storage add-on

Do my existing local attachments get moved to S3 automatically when I set this up? No — only new attachments upload to S3 going forward. Anything already attached before you configured the add-on stays on your server.

What happens if S3 is down or misconfigured when someone attaches a file? The upload falls back to your normal local WordPress uploads folder instead of failing — a temporary S3 problem never blocks someone from attaching a file.

The Add-ons screen shows “Pro Required” on the Cloud Storage card — I do have an add-on license, what’s wrong? That message specifically means your Pro license isn’t currently active — the add-on’s own key is fine and doesn’t need to be re-entered. Fix Pro’s license first; Cloud Storage picks back up on its own once Pro is licensed again.

Why does my bucket need to be public-read? Attached files need to be viewable by anyone with the link, the same way files in your local WordPress uploads folder are today. This is a setting you configure directly in your AWS account — the plugin doesn’t manage bucket-level permissions for you.

Troubleshooting

I installed everything but nothing Pro-related shows up. Check the install order: free plugin active → Pro active and licensed → (optional) add-on active and licensed. A feature further down that chain stays invisible, without an error, until everything above it is in place — see the Installation & License Setup Guide for the exact order.

A widget/feature I expected to see on the Dashboard is missing. Each Dashboard widget belongs to a specific module — if that module is off (Modules screen), its widget simply doesn’t appear. Turn the module on and it reappears.
